University Settlement seeks a Youth Program Assistant to support group leaders in delivering engaging activities for up to 20 youth at 420 East 12th Street, New York, NY.

This part-year (10 months) role offers a hands-on chance to promote positive youth development, ensure student safety, and assist with lesson planning, documentation, and daily program operations in a busy community setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or HSE preferred, or 1 year of experience working with children under 13.
• Must be at least 16 years old with up-to-date working papers.
• Ability to commit for the entire season.

Responsibilities

• Assist Group Leaders in creating activities for up to 20 youth.
• Ensure safety and comfort of students throughout the program.
• Assist with designing and implementing lesson plans using youth development principles.
• Serve as a positive role model and maintain professional behavior.
• Collaborate with co-counselor and other staff.
• Communicate regularly with supervisory staff.
• Handle program supplies and proper use of facilities.
• Assist with documentation and administrative tasks.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
