Job summary

The State of Nebraska seeks an Assistant Probation Officer in Lincoln, NE to assist in supervision, case planning, and monitoring of offenders under supervision. The role involves home visits, interviews, and preparing reports under the Chief Probation Officer's direction.

In-Office work at Lincoln location with occasional travel; salary starts at the hiring rate with potential post-probation increases and annual COLA adjustments, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree or 63 hours of course work from four-year college in a related field.
• Combination: Or 2 years of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Responsibilities

• Meets, interviews, and confers with probationers through home visits and office meetings; monitors and documents progress.
• Assists in monitoring offenders through electronic/GPS monitoring under direction of a Probation Officer to ensure compliance with court regulations.
• Assists with pre-sentence investigations and evaluations of candidates being considered for probation.
• Prepares, updates, and submits a variety of reports and/or databases including progress updates, court appearance paperwork, home-visit logs, and location reports.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
