State of Nebraska is seeking a Probation Officer Assistant in the Southern Region (Fremont/Blair). The role covers probation duties, home visits, and reporting responsibilities across multiple counties in the Southern Region of Probation District #6.

The position starts at $42,863.87 annually with a 2.5% post-probation increase and potential for higher initial pay based on education and experience. Benefits include health insurance, paid leave, and retirement contributions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 63 hours from a four-year college in a related field, or combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of probation services, laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Skills include home visits, interviewing, tracking locations, and report writing.
• Physical ability for light to moderate travel and light work as required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with probationers through home visits and office meetings, and document progress.
• Assist with monitoring offenders via electronic/GPS monitoring under supervision.
• Assist with pre-sentence investigations and evaluations of candidates.
• Prepare, update, and submit reports and databases including progress updates and logs.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
