Job summary

The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is seeking a Resource Specialist Supervisor to oversee youth placement and resource management. You will work with regional staff to identify services, manage a budget over $1 million, and coordinate with partners to ensure safe, appropriate placements for at-risk youth.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, developing reports, and guiding program development and contract processes. This role serves Montgomery to St.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited four year college or university.
• Three years of experience providing case management services to emotionally or socially maladjusted, delinquent, victimized or exceptional juveniles in a community or residential setting.
• 1) Substitute AA degree + 2 years direct services for required education. 2) Substitute Master’s degree for one year of experience. 3) Substitute military service for education/experience.
• This recruitment is limited to current State of Maryland employees only.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the placement process for DJS youth and advising staff on services and funding.
• Managing an Area Resource Office and supervising professional and support staff.
• Overseeing services budgets, invoicing, and purchasing for youth care and services.
• Participating in Title IV-B reviews and analyzing placement trends to address future needs.
• Representing DJS in Local Coordinating Councils and coordinating with partners to secure services.
• Providing information on programs to stakeholders and assisting in contract solicitations and awards.
• Completing special assignments and other duties to support programs and services.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social/behavioral sciences or criminal justice

Associate of Arts in social/behavioral sciences or criminal justice + 2 years direct services

Master’s degree in social/behavioral sciences or criminal justice
