Job summary

Second Baptist Church Amarillo is seeking a spiritually mature, energetic Youth Pastor to lead and develop our ministry to middle and high school students and their families.

The role emphasizes biblically sound instruction, mentoring, and partnering with parents to disciple teenagers. This position is initially part-time with potential to transition to full-time as the ministry grows, and will involve collaboration with church staff and volunteers to expand outreach in the Amarillo community.

YOUTH PASTOR

Second Baptist Church | Amarillo, Texas

Second Baptist Church of Amarillo is seeking a spiritually mature, energetic, and relational Youth Pastor to lead and develop our ministry to young families, middle school and high school students.

We believe student ministry should do more than entertain teenagers or keep them busy. Our desire is to partner with parents in developing young men and women who know Christ, know His Word, live their faith, serve His church, and reach others with the Gospel.

The Youth Minister will be given the opportunity to provide focused leadership to our student ministry while serving as part of the larger ministry team of Second Baptist Church.

Responsibilities will include:

• Teaching and discipling students through faithful biblical instruction.
• Building meaningful relationships with students and their families.
• Developing a strong weekly student ministry.
• Recruiting, training, and leading adult student ministry volunteers.
• Planning camps, retreats, mission opportunities, fellowships, and outreach events.
• Helping students become connected to the entire life of the church rather than creating a ministry isolated from it.
• Developing student leaders and encouraging students to serve.
• Partnering intentionally with parents in the discipleship of their teenagers.
• Reaching students and families throughout the Amarillo community.
• Working closely with the pastoral staff and other ministry leaders.

The ideal candidate will have a clear testimony of salvation, a growing relationship with Christ, a strong commitment to Scripture, and a genuine calling to disciple young people. Formal biblical, ministry, and/or theological education is preferred.

Candidates must be able to serve wholeheartedly within the doctrine and ministry direction of Second Baptist Church and in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. This position is initially part-time, with the potential to transition into a full-time role as the ministry grows and opportunities develop
