Job summary

First Baptist Church of Lipan, TX is seeking a part-time/bi-vocational Youth Pastor to lead and train the youth in the Lipan area. The role includes discipling students and recruiting a ministry team, with the parsonage available if needed.

The Youth Pastor will guide Bible studies, mentor youth, and collaborate with staff and deacons to accomplish ministry goals in the community. A heart for youth and biblical outreach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience or demonstrated ability in youth ministry preferred.
• Ability to recruit and lead volunteers for youth activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate the total youth ministry of the church including Sunday School, Discipleship, and Wednesday nights.
• Lead in planning and conducting activities and programs for youth growth (retreats, conferences, camps, fellowships, mission activities).
• Plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate the use of the Youth Center.
• Maintain one-to-one contact with individual youth to build strong relationships.
• Participate in staff visitation to prospective members, leaders, hospital and crisis visits related to youth ministry.
• Study and recommend changes in youth ministry operations, space use, equipment, policies, and curriculum.
• Prepare and administer the annual youth ministry budget.
• Plan and propose a quarterly calendar of youth events.
• Report to the church about the youth ministry for the monthly business meeting.
• Enlist and supervise youth workers; background checks required.

Job description

First Baptist Church of Lipan, TX is currently searching for a Youth Pastor to work with our thriving youth program to create and train disciples in the Lipan area. This is a part-time/bi-vocational position that includes the use of the youth minister parsonage (3 bed/ 1 bath/ refrigerator, washer, and dryer included), if needed. The Youth Pastor will lead students to become active and effective members of the gathered (church services) and scattered (our life in the world) church that reach their friends with the love of Jesus. The Youth Pastor will possess the ability to lead effective and interesting Bible studies that lead the students to apply biblical truth to their everyday life. The Youth Pastor will recruit and work with a Youth Ministry team to plan and organize events for the students. The Youth Pastor will build relationship with the students that allows for mentoring and pastoral guidance in life’s difficult situations.

The Youth Pastor will report to the Pastor and work with church staff and deacons to carry out the ministry objectives of the church in the community. The Youth Pastor should have a good grasp of the scriptures and should be “always the student,” seeking to deepen that understanding every day.

The responsibilities of the position include:

• 1) Plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate the total youth ministry of the church including Sunday School, Discipleship, and Wednesday nights.
• 2) Lead in planning and conducting special activities and programs appropriate for the spiritual growth of the youth of the church including retreats, conferences, camps, fellowships, and mission activities.
• 3) Plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate the use of the Youth Center.
• 4) Maintain one to one contact with individual youth in all phases of the ministry seeking to build strong relationships.
• 5) Participate in the staff visitation program to prospective members, potential leaders, hospital and crisis visitation as it relates to youth ministry.
• 6) Study and make recommendations for needed changes in the youth ministry such as organizational changes, space use changes, equipment and furnishing needs, policies and procedures of operation, ad well as, new materials, programs, curriculum, and educational methods for youth.
• 7) Prepare the annual budget for needs of the youth ministry and administer the approved budget according to policy
• 8) Plan and propose a quarterly calendar of events for the youth ministry.
• 9) Make a report to the church about the youth ministry for the monthly business meeting.
• 10) Enlist and supervise youth workers as needed. (All workers will need to pass a background check)
