Job summary

Durham County Government seeks a Project BUILD Outreach Worker to engage youth ages 10–21 and their families, managing a 15–25 case load and coordinating with partners. You will assess needs, plan interventions, and work within a multidisciplinary team to support education, employment and well‑being in Durham communities.

Ideal candidates have experience with youth, knowledge of local gang issues, strong communication, and the ability to document outcomes effectively in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth and young adults.
• Knowledge of local gang issues and needs of high‑risk youth.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Familiarity with Durham neighborhoods, schools and agencies.
• Basic computer skills and accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of 15–25 participants; conduct intake assessments.
• Provide intensive case management with home visits and transportation.
• Link participants to services and coordinate with schools and courts.
• Support youth education, social skills, employment and advocacy goals.
• Document outcomes and participate in weekly group sessions.
