Job summary

The Salvation Army Spokane Citadel Corps in Spokane, WA is seeking a Youth Ministry Outreach Coordinator to oversee youth programs and community outreach at the Spokane Citadel Community Center and Camp Gifford.

Reporting to the Corps Officer, you will lead Sun Beams and Adventure Corps, coordinate After-the-Bell activities, plan events, supervise youth activities, and maintain records while ensuring safety policies.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of leadership experience, preferred.
• Two or more years of Salvation Army programs experience, preferred.
• Applicable higher education degree, preferred; high school diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the After-the-Bell program and staff.
• Engage campers through letters, phone calls, and visits with the aim of inviting them to Corps youth programs.
• Assist in planning special events specifically aimed at inviting youth to summer camp and recruiting Salvation Army Leadership Training participants.
• Participate in the Spokane Citadel program team planning meetings.
• Participation in Divisional Youth events as assigned by Corps Officer.
• Attend Community meetings as assigned.
• Ensure all youth participant applications and field trip forms are complete, accurate, and stored properly according to policy.
• Maintain youth records in Corps Management, including demographics, household information, enrollments, groups, and attendance.
• Complete all required troop documentation including annual registration and monthly reports.
• Supervise Tuesday youth programs ensuring all Protecting the Mission policies are being followed.
• Ensure teachers follow provided curriculums and reports are turned in on time.
• Provide substitute coverage when teachers are absent.
• Facilitate the minor’s movement from class to class.
• Maintain troop uniform inspection readiness, ensuring they remain clean and neat; emblems sewn on in a timely fashion.
• Provide programming for English and Marshallese speaking congregants in youth/children’s ministry: After-school, Teen night, Troops, Music school, Camp Gifford, Seasonal events, Sunday school.
• Assist in transportation of program participants, donations pickups, kettle workers, Camp Gifford needs, events.
• Coordinate transportation schedule with Fleet Coordinator; provide transportation as assigned.
• Be responsible for all statistical reporting in Corps Management software.
• Plan activities for Family Resource Center and campus guests’ birthdays and holidays with Christmas/Easter emphasis.
• Welcome new guests on campus with welcome baskets, in-home visits, and spiritual assessments.
• Plan and implement Movies in the Park in summer; set up, engage with families, and cleanup.
• Coordinate seasonal activities including Angel Tree, Kettles, and summer camp recruitment.
• Attend campus staff and house meetings; provide content for reader board, web page, and Facebook posts.
• Support social service programs as assigned by Corps Officers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Corps Officers
