Job summary

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division seeks a Youth Program Mentor Coordinator for the Peoria Citadel. You will lead the youth mentoring program, overseeing recruitment, screening, matching and ongoing support of mentors and mentees.

Reporting to the Youth Director, you will build partnerships with schools and community organizations, coordinate events, monitor outcomes, and ensure safety and policy compliance across the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, business management or related field preferred; significant related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Three years of experience in mentoring, youth development, or volunteer program management is highly desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, plus ability to protect participant confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, and onboard mentors and mentees, ensuring safety and program quality.
• Monitor mentor-mentee participation and coordinate group events and activities.
• Develop relationships with schools, corporations, and community organizations to support recruitment.
• Maintain program policies, procedures, and manuals; supervise check-ins and evaluations.
• Communicate regularly with mentors, mentees, and their guardians throughout matches.
