Job summary

McDaniel College seeks student mentors to support Boys & Girls Club members in Westminster, MD. Shifts run Mon–Fri, 2:00PM–6:00PM or 3:00PM–6:00PM; transportation may be provided. Mentors supervise, engage youth, and assist with homework and activities while maintaining safety.

The position is paid at Maryland minimum wage with potential for growth through training and supervision by program staff.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College.
• Eligible for Federal Work Study as part of a Financial Aid Package.
• Able to communicate professionally and handle schedules.
• Willing to lead activities and supervise groups of youths.

Responsibilities

• Attend daily shift meetings and check in with a Director as needed.
• Review the daily schedule, programs, and member information.
• Maintain active supervision and ensure safety during activities.
• Actively engage members through games, homework support, and clubs.
• Lead clubs or activities and support programs led by staff and volunteers.
• Monitor behavior and use trauma-informed practices to promote a safe environment.
• Report concerns to a Director and follow all club procedures.
• Attend trainings and help reset spaces at shift end.
