Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support safe meal preparation and service for members ages 6–18 at our South Boston location.

Responsibilities include following USDA and local health guidelines, maintaining records and sanitation, and assisting with supervision of members in kitchen and dining areas. Prior kitchen experience and ServSafe/CPR certifications are preferred, with flexible hours.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, food safety, and sanitation practices required.
  • At least one year of experience in food service or kitchen operations.
  • ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain certification on hire.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification on hire; strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow allergen precautions and dietary recommendations.
  • Ability to work afternoon/evening in school year and morning/early afternoon in summer.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks for Club members aged 6-18.
  • Follow menus, portion sizes, meal patterns, allergen precautions, and dietary procedures.
  • Maintain daily meal counts and production records; report safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist in supervising members in kitchen, cafeteria, and culinary activities.
  • Ensure kitchen is safe, clean, organized and sanitary; manage materials and inventory.
