Job summary

Jazz Power Initiative seeks a Vocal Teacher Assistant for the Fall Training season. You will teach Saturday mornings private and semi-private voice lessons and lead Jazz Power Fundamentals I, a hands-on class introducing students to jazz culture, keyboard basics, listening, and improvisation.

The role includes Wednesday sessions in voice, movement, and storytelling, with some support for those sessions. Seasonal independent contractor role, $20–$50/hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience as a jazz singer and educator.
• Teaching experience in private, semi-private, and/or group voice lessons.
• Familiarity with Jazz Power Fundamentals curriculum and urban youth programs.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach private and semi-private voice lessons focusing on healthy singing technique and jazz style.
• Lead Jazz Power Fundamentals I, introducing jazz culture, keyboard basics, listening, and improvisation.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons within a structured weekly schedule.
• Collaborate with the Vocal Director and communicate with students and families.
