Job summary

The City of New York’s Administration for Children’s Services seeks an Intake and Assessment Supervisor to oversee youth placement processes in the Close-to-Home program. You will coordinate intake, assessment, and matching with providers, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and cross-unit collaboration.

You will supervise a team of intake specialists, liaising with court, legal, health and education partners, and maintaining robust data tracking for placement trends and outcomes.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and 30 semester credits toward a Master of Social Work or a graduate degree in a related field, and at least eighteen months of child welfare casework experience.
• 30 semester credits toward a Master of Social Work or a related graduate degree.
• Permanent civil service appointment status required (not provisional).

Responsibilities

• Supervise Intake and Assessment specialists in day-to-day operations including intake, assessment, matching and placement of youth adjudicated as juvenile delinquents in NYC Family Court and placed with ACS under Close-to-Home.
• Review and ensure accuracy of dispositional orders and complete timely intake and assessment with review and synthesis of court, health, education, and social history documents.
• Coordinate collateral interviews with youth, families, providers, and ACS personnel prior to transfer from detention to residential placement and ensure appropriate provider matches.
• Maintain relationships with DYFJ units, detention staff, attorneys, and court staff to ensure timely information flow.
• Oversee screenings and assessments for accurate youth-to-provider matching and transfer of responsibility to ACS-contracted placements.
• Review required paperwork for connections, legal tracking systems, and court reports for accuracy.
• Engage with DYFJ units and contracted providers to ensure coordination, oversight, and timely reporting.
• Maintain an ongoing case-tracking, data-collection, and reporting system to identify placement trends and needs.
