Job summary

Child Serve in Iowa is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist children and young adults with daily living and independence-building skills. You will work with a team including supervisors, therapists, nursing staff, and families to support personal care, meal prep, and community activities.

The role involves driving readiness for independence, transportation assistance, and safe administration of medications as applicable.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Previous work with children or adults with disabilities preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Assist children and young adults with daily living and independence in personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Provide transportation assistance as needed and support community involvement.
• Administer medications as appropriate, with knowledge of schedules and dosages.
• Collaborate with supervisors, therapists, nursing staff and families on program development.
