Job summary

YSS in Des Moines, IA seeks a Part Time Direct Care – Supportive Housing Worker to build trusting relationships with youth and provide consistent support. You will supervise activities, teach practical life skills, connect youth with resources, and assist with program goals toward independent living.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 1+ year in human services, 21+, and a valid driver's license with proper insurance to drive YSS vehicles. Weekend shifts are included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in human services.
• 21 years or older with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Insurance meeting YSS standards is required to drive a YSS vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with youth and provide consistent support and encouragement.
• Supervise daily activities and maintain a welcoming environment.
• Teach life skills like budgeting, cooking, laundry, and job searching.
• Connect youth with resources, assist with appointments and opportunities.
• Lead house meetings and group activities; resolve conflicts.
• Assist with applications, documentation, and program goals for transition.
• Respond to emergencies and monitor well‑being with compassion.
• Maintain documentation and support team operations.
