Job summary

Heartshare Human Services Of New York seeks a Coach for its Young Adult Supportive Housing program in Brooklyn. You will provide guidance, crisis support, entitlements assistance, healthcare and education referrals, and help youths access services to achieve independence.

The role emphasizes a strengths-based, nonjudgmental approach and requires adaptability to a diverse client base. Day shift with flexibility for weekends/evenings may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 1-2 years experience with young adults, particularly with mental health and substance use challenges.
• Cross-cultural experience or sensitivity preferred.
• Compassionate, nonjudgmental, strengths-based approach important.
• Experience or interest in evidence-based practices and using data to inform practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial apartment visits and assist with housing setup and moving.
• Conduct housing inspections and evaluate youths' needs.
• Build relationships with youths and families to plan services and referrals.
• Develop service/support plans and monitor progress.
• Oversee treatment, education and vocational programs and advocate for youths.
• Maintain apartment and budget guidance, liaise with landlords and utilities.
