Job summary

Promises2Kids is seeking a Housing and Career Navigator to support former foster youth in San Diego, guiding career and housing planning toward self-sufficiency. The role collaborates with local agencies to build stability and opportunities for youth experiencing homelessness or at risk.

The Navigator develops personalized plans, assists with budgeting, employment readiness, and access to housing, while maintaining detailed case documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing, community health or social services settings.
• Knowledge of adolescent psychology and Positive Youth Development.
• Ability to advocate for clients and work with diverse populations.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Background clearances in accordance with California law.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Coordinators to provide case support for 50–75 participants with individualized plans.
• Support budgeting, financial literacy, and access to resources for participants.
• Help participants develop short- and long-term career goals and increase earnings.
• Assist participants with securing and maintaining safe housing, including applications and documentation.
• Connect participants to housing, career, food, healthcare and community resources.
• Provide coaching, referrals, advocacy, and hands-on support to overcome barriers.
• Maintain knowledge of housing and workforce resources and document services and progress.
• Provide transportation and assist with crisis situations as needed.
• Maintain flexible schedule including some evenings/weekends; participate in professional development.
