Job summary

Safe Horizon’s Streetwork Project seeks a Youth Services Navigator to promote harm reduction, provide counseling, and connect LGBTQ youth and youth of color to essential services at our Drop-In Center in Harlem. You will conduct intake, support meals and basic needs, and link clients to benefits and resources.

You will deliver overdose prevention trainings, engage youth in education, and collaborate with staff to create a trauma-informed, respectful environment that reduces risk and supports

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency with relevant human services training.
• Two years of work at a Streetwork Project site.
• Personal experience with street survival activities; 3+ years separated from involvement.
• Compassionate, non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn trauma-informed, client-centered approach and anti-oppressive practices.
• Engage adolescents into program structure with harm reduction philosophy.
• Milieu counseling and mediation for internal conflicts.
• Facilitate access to daily living needs (food, clothing, hygiene).
• Conduct intake/assessments and screen for substance use risk.
• Deliver harm reduction education and overdose prevention messaging.
• Co-facilitate trainings for staff on emerging trends.
• Oversee syringe exchange and overdose prevention materials distribution.
• Coordinate quarterly peer advisory group and oversee social media messaging.
• Conduct audits to improve harm reduction accessibility.
