Job summary

Cornerstone Family Healthcare in Newburgh, NY is actively recruiting a Peer Navigator to join our Harm Reduction outreach team on a part-time basis. The role focuses on engaging people who use drugs, providing harm-reduction education and referrals, and coordinating with medical and social services to support clients in Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, and Sullivan counties.

The position requires a High School Diploma and experience in peer education, with travel to various community sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required with experience in peer education, harm reduction, HIV/HCV/STI and/or disease prevention.
• Familiarity with the priority population and geographic area assigned.
• Travel/Time: valid driver's license and transportation for frequent travel within the assigned county and to Cornerstone offices.

Responsibilities

• Participate in outreach to PWUD/PWID at community level and shelters to publicize services and recruit clients.
• Provide harm reduction education, counseling, and supplies; refer clients to medical and behavioral health services as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in trainings and meetings as assigned.
