Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ teaching experience preferred.
• Experience in a Special Education academic setting or therapeutic program with young adults experiencing behavioral, emotional, and learning challenges highly desired.
• Acceptance of individual differences in people.
• Awareness of one’s capabilities and limitations.
• Must have knowledge of Individualized Education Plan.
• Experience working with DCS youth a plus.
• Bi-lingual, bi-cultural a plus.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance.
• Must have dependable transportation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card without restriction(s).
• Experience with Smart Board Technology highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic assessment and GED instruction to youth aged 16-24 who have dropped out of school.
• Assist with preparation for furthering education and skill development through vocational training, college, or other post-secondary opportunities.
• Coordinate online schooling for students pursuing a high school diploma (Grad Solutions).
• Provide individualized tutoring and coordinate with volunteer tutors to improve academic outcomes.
• Provide case management and communicate with team members and outside agencies to ensure coordinated services.
• Attend mandatory meetings and trainings to stay compliant with funding and regulatory requirements.
