Job summary

St. Matthew Parish is seeking an energetic Youth Formation Coordinator to guide middle and high school students toward active faith through liturgy, catechesis, and service. The role collaborates with the Pastor and parish/school staff to develop relevant programs and events.

The coordinator will oversee sacraments, safeguarding compliance, and curriculum creation, while engaging families and volunteers in meaningful formation experiences within the parish community.

Qualifications

• Must possess deep understanding of Catholic faith and ability to teach age-appropriate lessons.
• Ability to operate technology (AV equipment, software, media platforms) and prepare learning materials.
• Experience facilitating safeguarding classes and coordinating sacramental liturgies with Pastor/designee.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all catechists and volunteers have met Safeguarding requirements.
• Select, facilitate, and attend parish youth mission trips.
• Recruit and train catechists.
• Develop curriculum, programs, and events.
• Connect students to service opportunities and formation resources for families.
• Assist with Confirmation liturgy or other sacramental liturgies as requested.
• Coordinate Advent scrip drive, monthly Sandwich Sunday outreach, and monthly Bing at Elizabeth Residence.
• Collaborate with cluster/deanery parishes for meetings, youth events, and NCYC.
• Serve as a staff resource and help with school retreat/reflection days.
• Update social media with events and parish information.
• Create and record sacramental information/certificates (Confirmation, First Communion).
• Manage registrations, attendance, and program payments.
