Job summary

Penquis is seeking a part‑time Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) to provide direct support by teaching essential life skills through interactive, hands‑on activities and community outings. You’ll empower clients to gain confidence and independence in daily life.

The role offers up to 20 hours per week, mainly afternoons and evenings, with work across Maine locations including Bangor. Training, paid certifications, and a benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Maine driver’s license with reliable transportation and automobile insurance.
• Access to a cell phone or smartphone.
• Must comply with Penquis background check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Playing board or card games to teach directions and emotional regulation.
• Watching video clips to practice non‑verbal cues.
• Visiting playgrounds to teach safety and positive friendships.
• Assisting with money skills and independent interactions with staff in stores.
• Choosing and following a recipe to practice meal planning and cooking skills.
• Helping with big emotions and learning self‑soothing or asking for help.
