Job summary

The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is seeking a Family Program Specialist to develop, coordinate, and deliver youth and family prevention programs funded through the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

Under the supervision of the Director of Youth & Families Programs, you will foster positive youth development, engage families, collaborate with schools and partners, provide case management support, and ensure program goals and reporting requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field OR equivalent professional and community experience.
• 2+ years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school youth in educational, community-based, or youth development settings.
• Strong relationship-building and engagement skills with youth, families, community partners, and staff.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and program coordination skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
• Commitment to youth development, prevention services, and organizational values.
• Availability to work Saturdays and occasional evenings as required.
• Proficiency with documentation, data collection, and reporting requirements.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
• TB Test Clearance within the last two years, as required for programs located on school district sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, facilitate, and implement evidence-based youth and family prevention programs in alignment with grant, curriculum, funding, and Department of Public Health requirements.
• Design and implement transition, enrichment, and leadership development opportunities for youth.
• Plan and manage program schedules, logistics, activities, and deliverables.
• Facilitate workshops, groups, and activities that promote positive youth development and family well-being.
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
• Recruit, engage, and retain program participants and families.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, community members, and partner organizations.
• Promote participant engagement and support achievement of program outcomes.
• Maintain participation levels in accordance with contract and program requirements.
• Conduct assessments and develop Family Service Plans using appropriate intervention strategies.
• Participate in Case Management Team meetings and coordinate services as assigned.
• Support students and families through referrals, resources, and ongoing engagement.
• Collaborate with school personnel, the school Beacon program, community-based organizations, and Department of Public Health partners.
• Foster partnerships that enhance services and support for youth and families.
• Maintain accurate participant records, attendance, case notes, and program data.
• Complete and submit all required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with agency, school district, contractual, and Department of Public Health requirements.
• Track and report program outcomes and participation data.
