Job summary

Compass Connections in Harlingen, TX is seeking compassionate staff to provide emergency shelter and life skills programming for children ages 5–17. This role requires at least one year of supervisory or teaching experience in social services and bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in behavioral sciences, human services, or social services fields.

Responsibilities

• Meet federal/state regulatory guidelines applicable to the position.
• Design individualized life skills plans for children ages 5–17.
• Develop Monthly Activity Calendar with foster care school team.
• Coordinate volunteer and church group activities with Program Director approval.
• Maintain supplies and equipment for life skills activities.
• Participate in meetings and assist with events, groups, and activities.
• Track and report educational information for quarterly reports.
• Use positive behavior management techniques (redirect/de-escalate).
• Maintain safe and orderly learning environment for children.
• Document children’s progress and provide updates in meetings/reports.
• Follow Compass Connections safety protocols during emergencies.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of operations.
• Adhere to Compass Connections standards of conduct.
• Other responsibilities: evaluate life skills needs, develop curriculum, network with providers, travel daily, meet deadlines.
