Job summary

CHCF in Bronx, NY is seeking an After-School Program Coordinator to oversee the development, management, and planning of after-school activities ensuring safe, enriching programs for youth. You will collaborate with staff to deliver cognitive, social, and physical growth, while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role requires experience with NYC public schools, youth services, and community partnerships, plus strong coordination and budgeting skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; School-Age Child Care Credential or Master's preferred (e.g., Education).
  • Experience working in NYC public schools.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Experience with fundraising and development (grant management, grant proposal writing, and report writing).
  • Experience with research methods, program evaluation, data assessment systems.
  • Experience with community outreach and education, school district operations, community collaborations, and multicultural education.
  • Knowledge of community resources and school-linked services.
  • Enthusiasm for community education and commitment to youth development and services.
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills desirable, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures program includes activities that contribute to each participant's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical well-being and growth.
  • Ensures programs are in compliance with state regulations.
  • Troubleshoots issues with staffing, participants, parents, etc.
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, supervising staff and volunteers, evaluations, goal setting, and professional development.
  • Coordinates training and orientation of new staff and existing staff taking on new responsibilities.
  • Delivers regular feedback to staff through group and one-on-one meetings.
  • Plans and facilitates staff meetings.
  • Assists to create and monitors budget.
  • Manages program expense tracker (Advantage and STYA).
  • Assists to develop and manage partnerships and build community support for the program.
  • Works with program director on Advantage and STYA grants from proposal development through reporting to ensure compliance for all reporting.
  • Maintains accurate records and data systems for grant reporting (attendance, student data, testing scores, etc.).
  • Reviews and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports; ensures effective implementation and completion of program requirements.
  • Attends school meetings and meetings with community groups.
  • Works on strategy, community relations, advocacy, organizational, and other projects as needed.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with school district personnel and community networks involved in youth development.
