Job summary

YMCA of Greater Long Beach is seeking an Expanded Learning Program Leader to supervise a group of 10-20 youth from TK through 8th grade. You will assist in coordinating day-to-day operations of the after-school enrichment program, write lesson plans, and mentor youth.

The role involves promoting healthy lifestyles, tutoring, and engaging curricula, with participation in staff meetings and adherence to organizational policies. The position emphasizes role-model behavior and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrate proof of 48 completed college units or pass district’s Instructional Aide exam.
• CPR and 1st Aid Certification required within first 3 months of employment.
• Clear Live Scan background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervisor with planning and implementing the program for students in accordance with organization policies.
• Comply with site policies and procedures.
• Work in a team environment.
• Develop engaging age-appropriate lesson plans meeting guidelines.
• Supervise students at all times.
• Create a welcoming environment for students.
• Maintain open communication with site stakeholders.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
