Job summary

Gulf Coast JFCS is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist to deliver crisis intervention and wrap-around services to youth and their families in the St. Petersburg area. You will assess needs, develop a coordinated plan, and connect families with community resources.

The role requires collaboration with schools and state agencies, plus strong communication and organizational skills. A four-day work week and extensive benefits support your impact and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related area from an accredited college or university.
• Two years’ experience in field-based social work or related human services preferred.
• Knowledge of child development preferred.
• Competent in using Microsoft Office applications.
• Verbal de-escalation skills.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in high-stress situations.
• Ability to work with individuals who exhibit physically and/or verbally aggressive behaviors.
• Use of personal vehicle to transport clients as needed.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

• Provide an in-person response, as required, and within the timeframes designated by contractual requirements
• Identify strengths, limitations, risk factors, and needs, using the required assessment tool, to develop a Support Plan and coordination of services
• Provide referral and follow-up to appropriate community resources as deemed appropriate to meet youth and families’ needs
• Coordinate with schools, the Department of Corrections, the Juvenile Justice Department, and other community providers
• Perform all other duties as assigned

The Youth Engagement Specialist is a non-exempt position responsible for providing crisis intervention and wrap-around services within the City of St. Petersburg for youth and their families. Duties and Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related area of study from an accredited college or university
