Job summary

Alexander Youth Network seeks a Youth Engagement Specialist to support the On Ramp Resource Center for young adults 16-24 in Charlotte, NC. You will be the main contact for participants and community members, connecting them to housing, education, employment, health, and safety resources.

The role involves intake assessments, mentoring, running daily workshops, and overseeing use of kitchen, showers, and laundry facilities.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in human services is preferred.
• MS Office proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operation of the On Ramp Resource Center.
• Connect with youth/young adults seeking housing, education, employment, health and safety support and navigation.
• Assist with intake assessments, provide mentoring, manage daily workshops, and monitor basic needs areas.

What You’ll Do:

The Youth Engagement Specialist is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the On Ramp Resource Center which serves as a drop-in center for young adults 16-24 years of age. The Relatives On Ramp Resource Center is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. The Youth Engagement Specialist serves on a team as the main point of contact for program participants and community members. The Youth Engagement Specialist’s primary responsibility is to connect with, and be a support to, youth/young adults who come to On Ramp seeking assistance with housing, education, employment, health and safety and community navigation. This includes the following job functions, assisting with intake assessments, providing support and mentoring young adults in achieving their goals, managing daily workshops, and opening & monitoring participant use of the basic needs areas - the kitchen during meal times, the shower facility, and the laundry room.

Qualifications: Education and Experience

• High School degree required.
• Two years’ experience in the human service field, working with young adults is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications preferred.
• Valid NC Driver's License
