Job summary

Liliʻuokalani Trust is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist II to independently design and facilitate social-emotional learning and youth development programs in a Hawaiian youth-centered environment.

The role focuses on building warm relationships, facilitating structured experiences, and mentoring staff while promoting culturally grounded practices within LT’s wraparound supports for youth and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience required.
• 2-3 years of youth development or related experience.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating youth programming independently.
• Knowledge of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles.
• Experience with case management, documentation, and data systems preferred.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and group facilitation skills.
• Commitment to working with Native Hawaiian youth and communities.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle; TB clearance required.
• First Aid and CPR/AED certification preferred.
• Criminal history background check required as part of pre-employment process.

Responsibilities

• Independently facilitate youth activities, groups, and structured learning experiences.
• Create a safe, welcoming environment that fosters belonging and positive identity formation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with youth, families, and community members.
• De-escalate conflict, manage group behavior, and adapt activities to engagement levels.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to youth; motivate decision-making.
• Lead structured learning experiences and track participant progress.
• Support program evaluation activities and data documentation.
