Job summary

Boston Athletic Association is seeking a Youth Program Manager to lead the development and delivery of youth engagement initiatives in Greater Boston. You will expand access to running and healthy habits through signature events, year-round programs, and collaborations with schools and community groups.

The role requires 3–5 years in youth programming, strong relationship skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. A hybrid work model and competitive benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience managing youth programs, community engagement initiatives, education, recreation, sports-based youth development, or related programming.
• Demonstrated success planning and executing events or programs that serve children, youth, families, or community organizations.
• Passion for expanding access to sport, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles for young people.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across schools, nonprofits, municipal agencies, community organizations, and internal teams.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Experience developing new programs or improving existing initiatives using participant feedback and data.
• Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Chinese, or Vietnamese) plus.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Salesforce is a plus.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and B.A.A. event weekends throughout the year.
• A commitment to creating safe, inclusive work environments and products.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee year-round youth engagement opportunities beyond race weekends.
• Lead the B.A.A.’s participation in community-based youth initiatives and events.
• Build, strengthen, and manage relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, and community partners.
• Drive planning and delivery of youth events and programs such as the Youth Mile and school cross country events.
• Manage program resources and ensure stewardship aligned with priorities.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of youth engagement strategy.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure well-planned, staffed, promoted, and executed activations.
• Monitor outcomes, feedback, and metrics to inform future programs.
• Ensure compliance with youth safety policies and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with Volunteers to staff youth initiatives and events.
• Identify opportunities and partnerships to expand access to running and activity.
• Represent the B.A.A. externally as a youth engagement ambassador.
