Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Stay and Play Associate to deliver engaging, safe experiences for children and families in our youth and family services setting.

Under supervision, you will engage with members, supervise children, and support programs while upholding the Y's four core values and safety policies. This on-site role requires flexible scheduling including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children.
• Prefer youth programming experience.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or within 30 days of hire).
• Flexible Schedule, days, nights and weekends.
• Completion of new associate training (including Child Abuse Prevention) before scheduled to work.

Responsibilities

• Engage with members, guests, and program participants to deliver excellent service.
• Supervise children whose parents/guardians participate in activities.
• Maintain a safe, engaging environment in the Y center.
• Complete sign-in/out, behavior reports, and incident reports.
• Communicate with children and parents/guardians effectively.
• Lead children toward activities and monitor their actions.
• Adhere to all policies and code of conduct.
• Respond to safety and emergency situations.
