Job summary

RFCUNY is seeking a Career Advisor for the Young Adult Borough Center/Learning to Work Center at Thomas Jefferson Campus High School in NYC. The role supports internship placement, work readiness, and data collection to measure outcomes.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years in youth career exploration, preferably in high school or post-secondary settings. Hours are 12:30 PM–8:30 PM Mon-Thu and 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Fri; fingerprinting required.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 4 years career exploration experience preferably with youth between 17-21.
• Experience within a high school or post-secondary setting is highly preferred.
• Applicant must be available to work between 12:30 PM - 8:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Fridays.
• Applicant must be fingerprinted.

Responsibilities

• Recommends qualified candidates for paid internships.
• Monitors job postings.
• Contact qualified candidates for scheduled interviews.
• Follow-up on the status of all applicants in the interview process.
• Update all candidate status changes as candidate goes through interview process.
• Responsible for the collection and review of paperwork of internship participants and prepares written reports related to participant status.
• Counsel candidates on proper work readiness and other work-related processes and procedures.
• Responsible for LTW weekly workshops and arranges for external presenters on a weekly or monthly basis.
