Job summary

The Child Center of NY is seeking a College and Career Advisor to work with students across NYC to develop individualized plans for college, technical training, and career pathways. The position emphasizes guidance, advocacy, and collaboration with families, schools, and community partners.

Responsibilities include monitoring progress, coordinating standardized testing logistics, and connecting students with resources to achieve academic and postsecondary goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work or related fields.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student academic progress and coordinate interventions to support graduation.
• Advise students and parents on postsecondary options and financial aid resources.
• Coordinate college visits, tests and exams administration.
• Develop academic and college/career goals with students during counseling sessions.
• Build and sustain relationships with families to support student success.
• Liaise with schools, employers and organizations for opportunities.
