Job summary

DAYBREAK INC in Dayton, OH is seeking an Entry Level Care Specialist to support YYAs experiencing homelessness. This role emphasizes safety, crisis intervention, and building relationships to promote stability and well‑being.

It requires a first shift from 8:30am to 4:30pm and involves engaging youth in life skills and community connections. Responsibilities include maintaining clean, safe spaces, crisis response, documentation, and collaboration with outreach staff to ensure supportive services

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 5 years’ experience in social services or related setting.
• Associate’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field with 2 years’ related experience.
• Minimum 2 years working directly with youth and young adults, homelessness experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day operations of the Drop-In Center, Outreach department and walk-ins.
• Foster a welcoming, trauma-informed environment that respects autonomy and dignity of YYAs.
• Provide daily face-to-face crisis intervention and stabilization services; conflict resolution and emotional regulation.
• Offer empathetic listening and guidance to help clients manage stress and anxiety.
• Link clients to other providers as needed and support daily living activities.
