Job summary

Daybreak's Dayton program seeks an Entry-level Care Specialist for the Drop-In Center to support YYAs experiencing homelessness. The role focuses on safety, relationship-building, life-skills development, and adherence to program guidelines.

The position involves crisis intervention and triage as the first point of contact. The job is on First Shift, 8:30am-4:30pm, with responsibilities spanning client support, operations, collaboration with security, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED; five years' experience in social services, education, behavioral health, or similar setting.
• OR Associate's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field; two years' experience required.
• Two years' experience working directly with youth and young adults, preferably those experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day operations of the Drop-In Center, Outreach department and walk-ins.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, trauma-informed environment respecting autonomy and dignity of YYAs.
• Provide daily face-to-face crisis intervention and stabilization services; conflict resolution and emotional regulation.
• Offer empathetic listening and guidance to help clients manage stress, anxiety, and behavioral challenges.
• Link clients to other providers as needed to enhance well-being and social connectivity.
