Job summary

City of Las Cruces is seeking a part-time, grant-funded coordinator for its Juvenile Citation Program. The role focuses on placing and supervising youth at community service sites, supervising key educational components, and coordinating with schools and agencies.

The position requires two years of college in a related field and at least one year of supervisory experience with at-risk youth; bilingual ability is preferred and MS Windows skills are needed for data handling and reporting.

Qualifications

• Two years college in pursuit of a degree in a social service, education, criminal justice or related field plus one year experience supervising at‑risk youth ages 12–18.
• One year experience utilizing MS Windows applications.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and facilitates the educational component of the programs serving the youth; facilitates youth group discussions and instructs parents on relevant subjects.
• Acts as a mentor and role model; supervises clients inside and in the community during service classes; maintains confidentiality.
• Researches and identifies emerging issues; develops curricula and partnerships with community resources.
• Presents programs to schools and community centers; monitors youth at sites to ensure completion of tasks.
• Updates files and databases; tracks participant demographics and reports to supervisor.
• Collects data on school grades and attendance to measure program success and provides referrals.
• Creates and updates curricula; coordinates educational games/tools and maintains contact with partners.
• Maintains contact with JPO, community agencies, clients, and parents to facilitate placement and transition.
• Participates in staff meetings and trainings for professional development.
