Job summary

The City of Las Cruces seeks a part-time Youth Program Specialist I to monitor youth participants in after-school and summer programs, assist in developing engaging recreational activities, and help organize tutoring and events that meet community needs.

Responsibilities include maintaining attendance records, supporting safety procedures, coordinating with staff, and assisting with special events; a valid driver’s license is required and the position may include evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent PLUS three (3) months experience in recreation activities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, participate, and create a fun atmosphere for youth during after-school and summer programs.
• Organize, promote and develop interest in social recreation and special events for participants.
• Cooperate with staff to conduct tutoring and other educational activities.
• Gather and submit reports on daily attendance, inventory, accident and program records.
• Assist in planning, directing, and supervising a general recreation program at a site.
• Follow safety policies and assist with first aid when needed.
• Attend Standard First Aid and CPR training as scheduled by the Supervisor.
