Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Some college education preferred.
• Previous math and/or literacy teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
• Previous experience working with youth, particularly elementary school age.
• Working knowledge of youth development; Boys & Girls Clubs preferred.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Capable of organizing and supervising members in a safe environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and general public.
• Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must be authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and supervise purposeful programs and activities to achieve goals and outcomes.
• Plan, administer and supervise the Indiana Kids grant program.
• Provide tutoring, homework help and career exploration opportunities.
• Track and report member progress.
• Establish rapport with members and provide mentoring and role modeling.
• Develop and maintain a positive climate and environment within program space.
• Promote, stimulate and engage members in activities and programs.
• Provide guidance in academics, healthy lifestyles, and civic engagement.
• Provide direct support to youth as they develop goals and plans.
• Recruit and lead members in program areas and field trips.
• Encourage emotional, social, and educational growth of members.
• Ensure a clean, healthy and safe program area.
• Maintain inventory of program equipment and supplies.
• Attend staff/agency meetings and perform other duties as required.
