Job summary

Boys & Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana, Chesterton, seeks a Youth Development Professional for after-school homework help. You will plan, administer, and supervise the Indiana Kids grant program, providing tutoring and career exploration opportunities to Club members and tracking progress.

You will mentor members, foster leadership and academic success, maintain a safe space, and coordinate field trips while coordinating with staff to deliver engaging programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Some college education preferred.
• Previous math and/or literacy teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
• Experience with youth, especially elementary school age.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
• Plan and implement quality programs for youth.
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Satisfactory criminal history background check and drug screen.
• Authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Plan, administer and supervise the Indiana Kids grant program.
• Provide tutoring, homework help and career exploration opportunities.
• Track and report member progress.
• Establish rapport and mentor members for leadership and academic success.
• Promote a positive climate within the program space.
• Recruit and lead members in program activities and field trips.
• Encourage emotional, social and educational growth.
• Ensure a clean, healthy and safe program area.
• Attend staff/agency meetings as required.
