Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Some college education preferred.
  • Previous math and/or literacy teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
  • Experience with youth, especially elementary school age.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Plan and implement quality programs for youth.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Satisfactory criminal history background check and drug screen.
  • Authorized to work in the US.

Chesterton - Youth Development Professional After school homework helpThe Youth Development Professional After school homework help will take on the role of Indiana Kids Coordinator. The Indiana Kids Coordinator is responsible for planning, administering and supervising the Indiana Kids grant program which provides participating Club members tutoring, homework help and career exploration. Incumbent will provide leadership and mentoring to Club members as well as support, resources, guidance and tutoring services to help them succeed in school and participate in career exploration.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Develop, implement and supervise purposeful and engaging programs and activities to achieve specific goals and outcome measurements. Programs and activities include but not limited to:a. Planning, administering and supervising the Indiana Kids grant programb. Provide participating Club members tutoring, homework help and career exploration opportunitiesc. Track and report member progressEstablish rapport with members and provide mentoring and role modeling to assist with their leadership development and academic success.Develop and maintain positive climate and environment within program space.Promote, stimulate and engage members in activities and programs.Provide guidance and direction to members in the areas of academic success, healthy lifestyles, and civic and community engagement.Provide direct support and guidance to youth as they develop individual goals and plans.Recruit and lead members in program area as well as in field trips and outings.Encourage emotional, social, and educational growth of individual members.Ensure a clean, healthy and safe program area.Maintain an inventory of program equipment and supplies and make requests when necessary.Attendance of all staff/agency meetings, as required.Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.Knowledge/Skills Required:High school diploma or equivalentAt least 18 years of ageSome college education preferredPrevious math and/or literacy teaching or tutoring experience preferredPrevious experience working with youth, particularly elementary school ageWorking knowledge of youth development as well as experience with Boys & Girls Clubs preferredAbility to motivate youth and manage behavior problemsCapable of organizing and supervising members in a safe environmentAbility to communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and general publicAble to plan and implement quality programs for youthExcellent communication, interpersonal skills and attention to detailStrong organization and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritizeIntermediate knowledge of a variety of technology equipment and software programs especially ExcelMust possess or have the ability to obtain certification in CPR and First AidAbility to satisfactorily pass a criminal history background check.Ability to satisfactorily pass a drug screen for all federally illegal substances.Must be authorized to work in the US.Physical Requirements / Work Environment:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
