Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a part-time Youth Development Leader to support before/after-school and day camp programs. You’ll create a safe, engaging space where children can learn, play, and grow while building strong relationships with families and staff.

You’ll bring energy, creativity, and a commitment to inclusion, supervising activities and implementing YMCA curriculum with sensitivity to diverse needs and schedules. Training and development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• As a Youth Development Leader, you’ll bring energy, creativity, and compassion to our before/after-school and day camp programs.
• You’ll help create a safe, fun, and enriching environment where youth feel supported, valued, and excited to learn.
• Lead activities that align with the YMCA curriculum and adapt for diverse needs.
• Monitor safety and supervise program spaces in accordance with YMCA policies and licensing standards.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and colleagues.
