Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a part-time 4-H Youth Development Support staff member to provide programmatic and administrative assistance for Greensville County and the City of Emporia 4-H program. The role covers trainings, enrollment, public inquiries, and outreach, with a focus on volunteer engagement and community partnerships.

The position is limited to 20–24 hours per week, offers hourly pay ranging from $17 to $20, and requires reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong written and verbal communication with youth and adults.
• Well organized, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to recruit, motivate and engage volunteers.
• Team player with VT faculty, staff and community partners.
• Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of trainings, programs, and activities.
• Support 4-H after-school, in-school, clubs, camps and workshops.
• Update and maintain 4-H Online enrollment and records.
• Greet visitors, provide information, and assist with forms and inquiries.
• Manage program social media and public relations efforts.
• Recruit and help manage volunteers; perform related duties as needed.
