Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking an assistant to help administer and promote a comprehensive 4H youth development program for youth in the locality. You will assist the 4-H Agent in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers and youth participating in the 4H program, and help develop 4-H community clubs and in-school activities.

This hourly position includes planning day camps and residential camp activities, a high level of public interaction, and a professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience delivering educational programs to youth.
• Team-oriented with volunteer management experience.

Job Description

Assist in administering and promoting a comprehensive 4H youth development programs to youth within the locality. Assist the 4-H Agent in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers and youth participating in the 4H program. This includes the development and management of 4-H community clubs; preparing and implementing educational programs through in-school club meetings; assist in planning and organizing day camps and residential camp activities. This position will have a high level of interaction with the public, and the person in this position is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Required Qualifications

Strong communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and the internet. Work or volunteer experience in youth development and delivery of educational programs. Strong experience as a team player.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree. Work or volunteer experience in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
