Job summary

Middletown Family YMCA in Middletown, DE is seeking a Youth Development Director to lead and grow our youth programs, including BASE/Day Camp and Teen/Youth Sports opportunities.

You will oversee program development, enrollment, safety, and budget management, while engaging families and the community to advance the YMCA’s mission. This full-time role requires evening/weekend availability and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• CDA credential or associate degree in early childhood education, elementary education, youth development, recreation, sports management, or a related field.
• Four or more years of experience in youth development, childcare, camp, sports, recreation, or related program management.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, developing, and evaluating staff.
• Experience planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating youth programs.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse communities.
• Ability to lead and grow programs through staff and volunteer leadership, budget creation/management, program development, and quality improvement.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, families, and partners.
• Ability to understand licensing, accreditation, safety, and program standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for assigned youth development programs, including BASE or Day Camp, Teen and/or Youth Sports.
• Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate comprehensive youth programs and initiatives for children, teens, families and the community.
• Plan and coordinate program activities, events, leagues, field trips, and other experiences with staffing, supplies and equipment.
• Develop new and innovative program offerings to meet community needs and YMCA mission.
• Monitor program effectiveness, enrollment, and outcomes and recommend improvements.
• Maintain accurate program records and documentation for compliance and evaluation.
• Adjust schedules to support operations, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Recruit, interview, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate staff within assigned programs.
• Ensure staff-to-participant ratios and screening for volunteers.
