Job summary

Central YMCA is seeking a Youth Development Director to lead and grow our Central Downtown Wilmington youth programs. You will oversee staff, develop engaging activities, manage enrollment, and ensure safe, high‑quality experiences for children and families.

The role emphasizes program development, community collaboration, and compliance with licensing and safety standards, with full benefits and a strong path for career advancement.

Qualifications

• CDA credential or associate degree in early childhood education, youth development, recreation, or related field.
• Four or more years of experience in youth development, childcare, camps, sports, recreation, or related program management.
• Experience supervising, developing, and evaluating staff.
• Ability to lead programs, manage budgets, and ensure safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for youth development programs (BASE/Day Camp, Teen/Youth Sports).
• Develop and evaluate comprehensive youth programs meeting community needs.
• Plan activities, events, trips, and experiences with appropriate staffing and resources.
• Monitor program effectiveness and implement improvements for quality and growth.
• Maintain records for compliance, evaluation, and program management.
• Lead staff during evenings and weekends when needed.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
• Ensure safety, licensing, and program standards are followed.
