Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley in Oroville, CA, seeks a Youth Development Counselor for Juvenile Hall to develop and implement programs across core areas. This part-time role supports academic and enrichment initiatives while maintaining a safe, positive environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Juvenile Hall staff, supervising programs, and engaging volunteers to deliver the Formula for Impact alongside the Five Core Program areas. Evening and weekend work is required.

Qualifications

  • First Aid & CPR certification is required.
  • TB test clearance required.
  • Background checks including FBI/DOJ and juvenile hall history.
  • Two years of experience in youth recreational programming preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement programs at Butte County Juvenile Hall.
  • Maintain safety and appearance of the Club and program areas.
  • Report supplies needed for facility and programs.
  • Promote activities through bulletin boards, flyers, announcements, and newsletters.
  • Coordinate spontaneous and structured recreational activities.
  • Assist with clubs, special events, and collaboration with Table Mountain School and Juvenile Hall.
  • Maintain paperwork to track programs, participation and grant requirements.
  • Recognize members for good work and liaise with staff and guardians.
  • Provide direction for volunteers and interns.
