Job summary

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF THE NORTH VALLEY is seeking a Youth Development Counselor at the Chico Teen Center. The role is part-time with afternoon hours and a starting wage of $17.00–$19.00 per hour, offering paid sick time and professional development opportunities.

The YDP ensures safety and supervision, supports the five core program areas, and helps deliver engaging activities while maintaining a positive, welcoming environment for members and families.

Qualifications

• First Aid & CPR certification required.
• Pass TB test prior to employment.
• Pass FBI/DOJ Live Scan and background check.
• Must be approved through insurance and policies as a driver.
• 1–2 years of experience in Recreation or Child Development a plus.
• Knowledge of youth development principles and mentoring a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, develop and implement programs.
• Maintain upkeep, safety, security and appearance of the Club.
• Maintain required paperwork for programs, member participation and grants.
• Coordinate and implement spontaneous recreational activities.
• Promote activities via displays, newsletters, flyers and announcements.
• Assist in planning and implementation of academic enrichment.
• Maintain equipment and facilities; report needs to supervisor.
• Work with staff and parents to recognize members for good work and issues.
• Provide direction for volunteers to stimulate participation.
• Provide quality customer service to the public and visitors.
