Job summary

Friends of the High Line is seeking an Education and Youth Development Manager to lead the multi-year Fellows Program for NYC high school students. You will design progressive, hands-on learning experiences in Civic Engagement and Horticulture, ensuring equity-centered programming and strong outcomes.

You will oversee program evaluation, alumni engagement, and summer residency opportunities while coordinating with Education and other departments to deliver interdisciplinary learning and career

Qualifications

  • 4+ years' experience with high school-aged youth in education/youth development.
  • 3+ years' supervisory experience, including hiring high school staff per youth labor laws.
  • Experience facilitating experiential learning sessions with youth.
  • Interest in horticulture, urban ecology, civic engagement.
  • Commitment to inclusive, equity-centered learning environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Fellows Program administration: hiring, payroll, scheduling, budget, attendance.
  • Lead design and facilitation of Civic Engagement and Horticulture learning pathways.
  • Develop mentorship and career development opportunities for Fellows.
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements and grant reporting.
  • Build partnerships with community, educational, and cultural organizations.
  • Collaborate across departments to connect Fellows with staff expertise.
