Job summary

Teens for Food Justice seeks a part-time Youth Programs Instructor to lead hands-on activities in hydroponics, food justice, and urban agriculture across Manhattan and the Bronx. You will adapt lessons, support youth engagement, and help connect learning to health, science, and community impact.

The role reports to the Senior Program Manager and supports afterschool, school-day classes, and community programs for the 2026-27 year with potential extension based on funding.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of youth-focused experience in education, afterschool, camp, or related settings.
• Strong youth engagement and group facilitation skills.
• Interest in working with youth and educators in hands-on environments.
• Reliable, organized and able to travel to partner sites across NYC.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and complete required trainings including ServSafe.

Responsibilities

• Lead and co-lead hands-on activities related to hydroponics, food justice, urban agriculture, nutrition, STEM, and youth leadership.
• Facilitate prepared lessons and adapt to meet the needs of participating youth.
• Support connections between food, farming, health, environment, community, and equity.
• Prepare materials, manage supplies, and maintain safe, inclusive learning spaces.
