Job summary

YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South seeks a Club Y Advisor to supervise middle school students and support before- and after-school programs. You will deliver age-appropriate enrichment in leadership, arts, STEM, and social-emotional learning while serving as a positive role model aligned with YMCA values.

You will supervise activities, follow approved curricula, and collaborate with families and the site director to create a safe, engaging environment. Training and DHS compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and pass pre-employment background checks
• Ability to manage children's behavior without physical contact or force
• Willingness to accept/provide supervision and guidance
• Strong observation and safety awareness for group activities
• Comfort working with middle school students in structured programs

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and participate in all program activities
• Observe behavior, enforce safety rules and manage behavior
• Prepare daily snack and assist with homework
• Maintain a safe, nurturing environment and positive relationships with families
• Lead specialty experiences in Art, Active Play & Sport, Music, Teen Leadership, STEM
• Utilize approved curriculums and project-based learning
• Provide active supervision and ensure children are never unsupervised
• Encourage respect for property and equipment, keep areas clean

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
